The cost of care depends on the help that’s needed. Here’s what shapes it, and how to get current rates for your situation.
What changes the price?
Type of care
Companionship and homemaking, personal support (PSW) and nursing visits are priced differently.
Hours and schedule
How many hours, how often, and whether visits are short or longer blocks.
Nights, weekends and holidays
Overnight care, weekend visits and statutory holidays can change the rate.
Level of support
More complex care, two-person transfers or advanced dementia care may need a nurse or more support.
Using health benefits?
You may already have health benefits that can help. Depending on your plan, eligible home-care services may be covered through extended health benefits. Publicly funded care through Ontario Health atHome can also be combined with private hours.

Why don’t you list prices online?
Care is different for every household, and the right mix of services changes the cost. Rather than publish figures that may not apply to you, we’ll give you current rates for your situation and confirm them in writing.
When will I know my rate?
After we understand the care that’s needed. Your rate will be confirmed in writing before care begins.
Can I use insurance or benefits?
Depending on your plan, eligible home-care services may be covered through extended health benefits. For GreenShield, we can submit eligible claims directly where your plan and the service permit. For other insurers, we’ll help you understand the documentation your plan may require.
Is there publicly funded home care in Ontario?
Yes. Publicly funded home care is arranged through Ontario Health atHome. Many families combine those hours with private care to fill the gaps.
